Blog Action Day 2009: Climate Change

With 130 countries represented, this year's Blog Action Day will be the largest-ever social change event on the web. Blog Action Day is an annual event that unites the world's bloggers and this year bloggers around the world are posting about climate change.

Climate change affects us all and it threatens more than the environment. It threatens to cause famine, floods, war, and millions of refugees. Given the urgency of the issue of climate change and the upcoming international climate negotiations in Copenhagen this December, the blogosphere has the unique opportunity to mobilize millions of people to express support for finding a sustainable solution to the climate crisis.

Climate change impacts us all. But more than any other country, action taken by the United States to limit greenhouse gases and build a clean energy economy is needed to achieve a sustainable solution to our global climate crisis.

This December, world leaders will gather in Copenhagen to negotiate a global response to climate change. As a world leader in greenhouse gas pollution as well as clean energy technology, the United States needs to take bold and urgent action by implementing comprehensive clean energy policies to curb emissions.

Nobel Peace Prize Winner, President Barack Obama has said that climate change is an urgent threat, and now is the time for him to lead the United States in confronting climate crisis.

This is a chance for people around the world and in the US to join together in telling President Obama that we want him to lead the country in taking bold and significant action to reduce greenhouse gasses.

Blog Action Day is the brainchild of Change.org, a blog powered social network. Recently, Blog Action Day announced that it has partnered with Al Gore's group, the Alliance for Climate Protection.

Click here to add your name and call on the U.S. to take action now.
