Queen's University Belfast Wins Ireland's Best Green School or College Award

In 2014, Queen's University Belfast received recognition at Ireland's 6th annual Green Awards. The school won for its excellence in sustainability and support of green practices. Organized by Event Strategies, these are Ireland's most prestigious green awards. The University won in the category of best green School or College in the nation.

Queen's University Belfast was acknowledged for its energy savings, greener travel and waste minimization. Over the next few years Queen's University plans to reduce its carbon footprint by more than a fifth, saving around 22,000 tons of CO2.
